Height: 5-6 1/2 Beyonce Knowles was born in Houston, TX and has won 16 Grammy Awards to date. She joined an all-girls group as the lead singer that changed their name to Destiny's Child in 1993. They were signed by Columbia Records in 1997 and released their self-titled debut album the following year. In 1999, Destiny's Child released their second album The Writing's on the Wall with the hit song Say My Name which won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. The group broke up in 2005 and Beyonce launched her own musical career that took off with the album B'Day in 2006. Her third solo album I am Sasha Fierce earned 10 Grammy nominations. She received the MTV Video of the Year Award for Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) in 2009. The song also won Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Female Vocal Performance. Beyonce has also been an actress in movies including Dreamgirls and The Pink Panther in 2006 and Obsessed in 2009. She is married to rap star and producer Jay-Z. She is pregnant with her first child. |
